Mother’s Day offers churches an opportunity to honour and celebrate those who nurture and care within our church and wider community. We recognise that “mothering” is expressed in many ways and by many people, including mums, step-mums, grandmothers, foster and adoptive parents, single parents, dads in parenting roles, and others who faithfully provide love and support.

We are also mindful that this day can be joyful for some and tender for others. Experiences of infertility, loss, grief, estrangement, or complex family relationships may make Mothers Day difficult. By holding celebration and sensitivity together, we can create spaces that are warm, compassionate, and inclusive, giving thanks for the many ways care and love are shared among us.
